Yepp.. I am back with a new form of poetry yet again…

A Ottava Rima is a poem written in 8-line octives. Each line is of a 10 or 11 syllable count in

the following rhyme:

one octive poem. abababcc

And here’s my poem on the Ottava Rima form…

~::~ Ballet Dancer ~::~

She danced all night, wooing her audience

Sashaying her skirt, swaying to the tunes

Dim lights created the right ambience

Enthralls everyone, making their hearts swoon

Not one but all, entranced by her performance

Beads of sweat on her brows, she shines like the moon

She’s one of her kind, their ballet danseuse

Revered by all yet untouched, no one’s muse

The painting is done by my friend Shruti Harohalli 😀 who is slowly flowering into a wonderful artist.. You can see more of her art at –  http://shrutiharohalli.wordpress.com/ Please do visit her.. she has some wonderful art on display. You can also buy or place orders for her 🙂

Heyy… How are you all doing??

Well… I am back again with yet another form of poetry…

A Kyrielle is a French form of rhyming poetry written in quatrains (a stanza consisting of 4 lines), and each quatrain contains a repeating line or phrase as a refrain (usually appearing as the last line of each stanza). Each line within the poem consists of only eight syllables. There is no limit to the amount of stanzas a Kyrielle may have, but three is considered the accepted minimum.

Some popular rhyming schemes for a Kyrielle are: aabB, ccbB, ddbB, with B being the repeated line, or abaB, cbcB, dbdB.

Mixing up the rhyme scheme is possible for an unusual pattern of: axaZ, bxbZ, cxcZ, dxdZ, etc. with Z being the repeated line.

The rhyme pattern is completely up to the poet.

~::~ I Dance ~::~

When life gives more reasons to cry

Regardless of how hard I try

When all I get is a lost chance

Absorbed in my own world I dance

When anger gets better of me

All emotions want to just flee

Inhaling deeply I take stance

Absorbed in my own world I dance

When ’m happy and jump in joy

Like a kid playing with his toy

I move around whistling in prance

Absorbed in my own world I dance

When life’s ruled by monotony

Boredom increases in degree

Without a single look askance

Absorbed in my own world I dance

For all my diverse reactions

Only outlet is my passion

That has me enraptured in trance

Absorbed in my own world I dance

I hope you liked this form and the poem..

The Dancing Queen….

Aah..!!Another poetry… jus outta the blue… it struck me to write sumthin like this

please bear with me… cos this a topic im passionate abt

The Dancing Queen

She took a deep breath

Wondering what would happen

Albeit the feeling of unease

She got out in the open

She raised her hand

Took the first pirouette

She lost her balance And still

Managed to maintain etiquette

She inhaled deeply

And closed her eyes

Let the music pervade her

And then began to rise

She moved her hands…

With swift movements

Her body moved gaily

Like a piece of adornment

Dressed all in white

She looked angelic

Silver dance shoes

Made her look chic

A tiara perched

Atop her black crest

Like the star adorning

The skies Northwest

Her slender arms..

Her nimble feet..

Hair held up, tripping..

Everyone’s heartbeat..

She let her lithe body

Respond to the music

As she swayed. Oh my!

She looked aesthetic

She took another turn

Few curls fell around her face

People all gasped

Lost in her moves and pace

She ended her performance

With great grace and poise

People all cheered and

The claps came down with noise..!!

She took a bow in style

There’s none like her to be seen

There she was standing tall

Their dancing queen..!!

Do let me know how you found it… this was my first attempt on something that wasnt too abstract
