Cinquain is a short, usually unrhymed poem consisting of twenty-two syllables distributed as 2, 4, 6, 8, 2, in five lines. It was developed by the Imagist poet, Adelaide Crapsey.

These are times when I need you around
To make me feel loved and special
While the aura of our love surrounds
And by you I lay securely nestled
These are times when I need you close
To hold on to and hug me tight
Twiddling away with each others toes
And squealing in pleasured delight
These are times when i need you beside
To encapsulate me in your strong arms
Our playful fingers tightly entwined
While in your breath my mellow heart warms
These are time when I need you with me
To kiss me tender ‘neath pearlescent moonlight
Butterfly touches sending souls a’glee
And passion that shines blindingly bright

I’ve never slept so soundly before
I’ve never felt tranquil
I’ve never felt so complete before
To my fragile heart’s fill
I’ve never felt so important before
I’ve never felt alive
I’ve never been in love before
All I did was thrive
You came as rain to my flower
As blood through my veins
An antidepressant that calms me
And tranquilizer to my pain
Your thoughts give me confidence
They are the wind ‘neath my wings
Your love gives me the strength
To fly higher than all beings..

Oh! My sweetheart where art thou
Yearning heart wants you here, now
Your intense voice that calls my name
Oh sweetheart, sets my heart a’flame
I yearn; I pine for your touch so sweet
Oh my sweetheart, my lonely heart beats
I crave your fervent arms around me, strong
Oh sweetheart, that’s where I truly belong
My soul melts like ice at the thought of you
Oh my sweetheart, you’re the one my soul pursues

Con-verse: The Con-Verse, created by Connie Marcum Wong, consists of three or more 2-line rhyming stanzas (couplets). The meter of this form is in syllabic verse.

Magnolia! You make me yearn
You blossom wild, in grief I burn
Set ablaze for eternity
My immortal love, come to me
In every life, affection spurned

He came, he left without a trace
Oh, how I crave to see his face!
Scorned love, in every existence
Passion decried of its essence

Time after time in every turn

Quatern – A Quatern is a sixteen line French form composed of four quatrains. It is similar to the Kyrielle and the Retourne. It has a refrain that is in a different place in each quatrain. The first line of stanza one is the second line of stanza two, third line of stanza three, and fourth line of stanza four. A quatern has eight syllables per line. I looked for you in crowded faces
I looked high and low in myriad places
Wondering where I could find you
And wash away my earthly blues
I sit here waiting for the One to love
Awaiting an interlude by heavens above
Anticipating the advent of a soul mate
At the touch of whom my heart’s at pace
Oh love! I search, I search for thee
A love that makes me more me
The love that inspired me to rhyme
A love that would last for a lifetime
A verse in rhyme I write for you
A verse I dream in love-laced hues
A verse so real, of love surreal
A verse, with my feelings concealed
I pine for you and words just flow
I sit writing poems, my face aglow
I write a poem, love poems for thee

For me it was Love and the search for the one true love! 🙂 The dreams of which and lack of which inspired me to write many a blissful/mushy/sad poems of love. I hope I have justified the prompt as well as my inspiration – Love!!

There’s so much I want to say
There’s so much to convey
But words just elude me
I can’t seem to break free
Chains of reality weighing me down
Distances between us make me frown
Every passing second seem an eternity long
My aching heart hums a silent love song
For all the miles that lay between
A zillion could have, would have, should have been
Without you around, I feel incomplete
Even my rhythmic heart skips a beat
With every moment I yearn for you
Your absence makes me feel all blue
A stabbing pain, a silent tear
Your velvet voice I pine to hear
Slender fingers, contoured face
That losing myself in your embrace
Your silken lips laced in a naughty dimpled smile
Melts my soul into a gooey pile
My darling I stand here by the altar
Awaiting your arrival, my Knight in shining armor!
