~::~ Dabangg ~::~

The overall music score would be an average but for 1 single song with a total of 3 versions this album stands out.. No prizes for guessing which one.. Duh!! Raahat bhai’s song Tere Mast Mast Do Nain which has 3 versions – his solo, duet with Shreya and a remix..  the success of this album to a very large extent rides on the success of just a couple of songs.. Firstly Raahat Bhai’s song apart from that Munni Badnaam Hui largely for mass appeal , Malaika Arora Khan’s gyrations and definitely the Item number part of it.. This one is sure to be a hit not only for all weddings and college fests but even with the local autowallahs.. Why even I love it already..  Just waiting to catch a glimpse at Malaika’s jhatkas and matkas.. Humka Peeni Hai again would draw in the crowds for its uncanny resemblance to Khaike Paan banaraswala.. Nonetheless to all those who like folksy songs this one’s gonna be a super hit.. My rating would be 3.5/5

Chori Kiya re Jiya Sonu Nigam Shreya Ghosal – soft melodious song.. a nice romantic duet.. it has a tad western influence with respect to the music.. For a film based in Bihar.. I wonder why and how.. but nonetheless it’s a lovely number.. The tune somehow reminds me of Sonu’s music albums.. Not sure which song though.. But brings out that effect.. The lyrics are nice.. A tad predictable though.. the lines “tune hi chori kiya re jiya.. mora jiya are a lil addictive they stick in ur head even after the song is over.. Certified Listenable..Why? cos I think it wud take some more time to sink in and make it a must listen 😛 So for now its CERTIFIED LISTENABLE

Hud Hud DabanggSukhwinder and Wajid –  a signature Sukhwinder song.. the perfect number that you would except sukhwinder to belt out.. it has a head swaying effect on you.. atleast  had it on me.. so m speaking for myself.. there is a folksy effect to the whole song and I definitely aint surprised going by the location of the movie.. Wajid has complemented Sukhwinder perfectly.. the lyrics are spattered with bihari hindi.. pretty much like a war cry kinda song..  CERTIFIED LISTENABLE

Humka Peeni hai Wajid, Master Salim and Shabab – it seems to start with a Khaike Paan Banaras wala effect.. its pretty much in the same lines.. only here its not paan but either alcohol/bhaang.. nonetheless this is one of those head nodding/leg shaking numbers.. to which u cant help swaying.. for all those in love with folksy numbers  and dance number fans are sure to like it.. somewhere in between I was reminded of Omkara –Beedi Jalayle.. so if u have enjoyed tht one u are sure to like this too.. the lyrics are complete with masti and slang.. “matka mein apni tho tounti lagayile..” wen I heard it for the first time I burst out laffing.. basically cos I don’t know wat it means.. If any of you biharis out there and know wat it means kindly enlighten me.. And as for me since I love masti timepass dance numbers this goes for CERTIFIED MUST LISTEN

Tere Mast Mast Do NainRaahat Fateh Ali KhanDo I need to say anymore on why I like this song or what its certified as.. This is THE BEST SONG in this album.. Forget all the others and just listen to this.. Its one of the signature Rahat songs.. Mindblasting I say.. pehle peher tujhe dekha tho dil mera dhadka haye dhadka haaye jal jal utha hoon main shola jo pyar ka bhadka haaye bhadka haaye.. If someone was to sing this song like raahat for me.. I wud be ghayal in a jiffy 😛  I have no words to express the beauty of this song.. all I can say is CERTIFIED MUST LISTEN

Munni Badnaam mamta Sharma & Aishwarya –  new singers on the block.. and a perfect Item Number song.. I wouldn’t be surprised if this goes on to become the most raging song of this year.. With Malaika Arora Khan performing onscreen I am one eager human waiting to catch the video 😉 if you have liked item numbers like beedi and namak ishq ka and babuji zara dheere chalo you are sure to like this one atleast I do .. the lyrics are ROFL stuff… I mean imagine sayin “main zandu balm hui darling tere liyemaannn I was frigging laughing when I heard that.. but this one’s a really dhinchakkk number I have myself grooving whenever I hear this one 😀 CERTIFIED MUST LISTEN

Humka Peeni hai (remix)Wajid, Master Salim and Shabab – the original was funtoosh.. and the remix is just about fast paced with some additional beats and liberal use of western instruments..this one again is definitely something m sure im gonna like n simply for the fast beats and masti effect.. CERTIFIED LISTENABLE

Tere Mast Mast Do NainRaahat Fateh Ali Khan & Shreya Ghosal – this ones the duet version of the other song… the moment Shreya starts u are even more mesmerized with the song than u were.. now I cant ignore Raahat nor Shreya and I cant do injustice to Shreya  by sayin I don’t like this one… just cos I am a Raahat Fan 😀 😛 so nonetheless both these songs are simply awesome.. CERTIFIED MUST LISTEN

Munni Badnaam hui remix Mamta Sharma & Aishwarya – if u have liked the original u are sure to like this 😀  Not sure how many of you have heard the Kooke Koyaliya song from Life partner.. if you have then you know wat to expect from this song.. U like it u hate it but u cant ignore it, nice catchy groovy Item Number –  CERTIFIED MUST LISTEN

Dabangg Theme this ones more of an audio theatrical trailer than a theme in itself.. I have never come across a theme with dialogues.. whereas this one has all the effect of the punches the gunshots the screams the punch dialogues et all.. the musical interludes are ok not that great or anything.. But nice the highlights wud be the latino effect.. CERTIFIED MISSABLE

Tere Mast Mast Do Nain – remix Raahat Fateh Ali Khan – sigh!!! Wat do I say now.. They have not only given us 2 versions of this song already.. They even went on to give us a remix.. Not that I am too impressed with the remix.. But then as I said I can’t\ ignore Raahat but given a choice I can definitely pass over this one for the original solo one 😉 so this one goes in for a CERTIFIED LISTENABLE

That’s it on Dabangg peeps… Go get the music and enjoy.. the musical pundits please stick to Raahat’s songs, the dance peeps can chck out Humka Peeni Hai and ofcourse Munni Badnaam Hui.. for those who love folksy tunes get the whole album guys and for the others – listen to the songs before you download them..

That’s it from Megzone for now..

~::~ Lafangey Parindey ~::~

The recent spate of albums that have been released OUATIM, Aisha have all been wonderful listens and adding another feather to the list is Lafangey Parindey.. I wondered why the music had a pop-py feeling to it and that’s when I saw that Music is by R.Anandh of Agosh fame.. Remember the “mujhe mil jo jaaye thoda paisa” yes yes same piece 😀 I loved most of the songs.. I can heardly put one as MISSABLE.. and with Mohit and Shilpa giving us lovely songs.. I can hardly stop listening to it 😀

Overall rating comes to lilke 3.5/5.. aahaa I knw I liked it so much and yet only 3.5 well there cud have been better songs too  right 😀 cos theres always room for improvement.. but for a debut music director this is brilliant work 😀

~

Lafangey Parindey Ronit Sarkar ~ the music starts like a rock song.. and has u hooked on the moment it starts.. Singer was aptly chosen and does complete justice to the song.. it’s a perfect for those looonggg drives…loved the lyrics – nass nass mein sheher ki banke lahoo ye daude..jis taraf ho marzi raah ko apni mode…chavi tho nahi hai milti kismet ke taale tode.. raftaaro ke ye aashiq khule hai saare ghode.. firte hai aazaad mast har mushkil ko karte hai bas rozana maut se lapak jhapak khatro se khelna  inki sazaa.. kabhi saaf kabhi ye gandhe lafangey parindey… Dhinchakkkk.. the chorus of dhingnananana is very cute and catchy 😀 over all loved the song.. definitely recommended CERTIFIED MUST LISTEN

Mann lafanga Mohit Chauhan ~ do u need a reason to love this song when it has mohit as the singer 🙄 the music is swaying and smooth.. And obviously Mohit delivers yet again.. and the song is mindblowing.. I hear ample use of guitar in this very simple music not much orchestration but very soothing and enjoyable.. The lyrics are cute and catchy too..  Mann lafanga bada apne mann ki kare..yu tho mera hi hai mujse bhi na dare…main sambhal ja kahun phisalta rahe..ishq mehenga pade yuhi sauda kare..The goan effect in the middle is really nice 😀 CERTIFIED MUST LISTEN

Rang Daalein –  Suraj jagan – thanks to 3idiots Suraj jagan seems to be everywhere in bollywood.. not that I am complaining cos I liked this song a lot.. but not so much to get so addicted to it.. Suraj as usual delivers with panache and the song is indeed nice to hear.. has the grey shade effect.. u knw the typical villain entry kinda music.. I wonder why all songs in this movie has the word lafanga/lafange I knw that’s the movie name but 3 songs so far and all 3 having the word is a tad too much… 😛 The bagpiper-ish music between the paras was really endearing.. the lyrics are ok not much..Some lines stand out like – waqt ke paao do hai paiye lage hai wo aagey aagey jaise koi  peeche peeche sepaiye hai lagey.. CERTIFIED LISTENABLE

Dhatad Thatad Shail Hada Anushka Manchanda – love the song the moment it starts.. it has the perfect rapchik raanti effect to it.. The music somewhere down the line seems to have some Bengali influence in it and I wonder why and how..?? I don’t care why they used the words dhatad thatad, its significance or wat it means but I can tell u this much I am loving this.. its completely catchy and danceable.. the moment it starts I am busy shaking and nodding my head to the tune.. 😀 The use of the famous kishore kumar line – jamkepakad cheerbhichakar is the sone pe suhaaga 😀 towards the end though I wonder why it reminded me of the typical tamil kuthu songs – the O Podu et al… the lyrics are peppy more like the why fear and worry jus get out and enjoy life types.. 😀 my fav line wud be – sunle shor chunchunke shor bhi ek manzar hai.. CERTIFIED MUST LISTEN

Mann lafanga (remix)–  Mohit Chauhan – u like the original u love the remix.. well that’s me… 😀 So without much ado about the song cos I am already gaga over it this one’s CERTIFIED MUST LISTEN

Nain ParindeyShilpa rao – everytime I hear this song and everytime I hear shilpa’s voice I love this song even more.. it’s a nice  soothing lilting number.. u really feel as if ur flying jus the way she sings it.. palakh jhatakke ud jaayenge..  brilliant piece J the music is so gentle and comforting.. the imagery created with the lyrics is mindblowing.. and with Shilpa crooning it’s a superfantabulous song J CERTIFIED MUST LISTEN

Born to Fly theme – after a long time I have actually heard a theme song that’s beautiful… it comprises mostly of all the songs in the movie.. and they have been awesome blended together 🙂 CERTIFIED LISTENABLE.

~

Overall the album is definitely worth a listen.. some songs obviously stand out and i would pick Mann Lafanga, Dhatad Thatad and Nain Parindey… and maybe add up Lafangey parinde to the list too..

So I give it a 3.5/5 rating 😀

Do listen to these songs and m sure ur gonna love them 😀

That’s it from Megzone for now..

~::~ Cute Aisha ~::~

Well … Saw the promos when I went to watch I Hate Luv Storys and I somehow felt it was a remake of some English/Spanish movie not sure though..Later Wikipedia revealed its based on Emma by Jane Austen.. The song that accompanied it – Suno Aisha… Did strike me interesting and had made me wait and make sure I get my hands on the album.. And I must say I am Not Disappointed.. 2-3 songs are really worth the whole album.. The music director Amit Trivedi seems to have taken the B-wood by storm now.. Most of his latest songs have been well received.. Though a couple of songs at some places sounded evocative to english songs but since I am not able to point my finger on the exact song I cant say they are lifts/remakes or anything.. But songs like Suno Aisha, Sham, Behke Behke and Lehrein are awesome numbers the last being the most soulful one with ample usage of Violin.. Singer Anushka has had a ball of a time cos she has got some lovely songs.. But somehow I would like to hear a melody or ballad from her than the usual perky numbers.. Anusha Mani I guess bein introduced in this cos I haven’t heard her before has done a beautiful job with Lehrein and Amit Trivedi himself does complete justice to the title track.. Overall it’s a lovely Album.. I give it a 3/5.. not being liberal.. But I just feel there cant be more to it 🙂

~~~~~~~
Behke behkeAnushka Manchanda – Starts with a peppy LATINO influence.. and yes the moment it starts im already tapping my foot and nodding/shaking  my head..Anushka suits this song to the T. I don’t know if its just me but somehow in some places the song reminded me of Main Albeli from Zubaida.. either its true or my ears are ringing.. but the song is definitely something that can keep you engrossed.. I see a lil  bit of flamenco effect in the song.. the lyrics are good.. the lines – Behke behke mann keep running in my mind inspite of the song finishes. CERTIFIED MUST LISTEN
By the way Anushka Manchanda – This ones again a nice peppy number.. in some areas it reminded me of 10 on 10 from Pyar Impossible.. err.. maybe cos both were sung by Anushka but nonetheless I liked this one.. I like the places where she says Jaane Do Chodo Bhi.. The ample use of guitar enhances the effect of the song… The lyrics depict of just live life don’t think…this ones not much of a dance number but definitely recommended for the party and karaoke nights..Cos I love the beats and the claps that come in.. CERTIFIED LISTENABLE
Gal Mitthi MitthiiTochi Raina – ok now I am not much impressed with this on hearing it 2-3 times.. but sometimes there are songs where the videos make them likeable.. For people who like Punju songs they are sure to like this one.. No I aint against punju songs but somehow ye kuch raas nai aaya.. L so for me its nothing great.. but somehow I feel when I see the song I might start liking.. and yes this might jus go on to become the next marriage song.. well its not about marriage but the mere punju effect is sure to make ppl  dance to it.. frankly this don’t impress me much.. CERTIFIED MISSABLE..
Lehrein ~ Anusha Mani, Neuman Pinto, Nikhil Dsouza – I just loved this one.. starts with Violin and that has me mesmerized already.. Completely Awesomee….the song jus flows and makes u sway too..  Generally the violin usage in a song depicts grief but this song seems more abt solitude/loneliness  but doesnt take u into any depressive mode.. you are sure gonan love this one 😀 CERTIFIED MUST LISTEN
Sham ~ Nikhil Dsouza, Amit Trivedi Neuman Pinto – This one in someways reminds me of an English ong but I am not able to place my finger on it.. minimalist music and the guitar usage has me swaying and flowing.. Sometimes reminds me of the LIMCA ad song..Perfect for a nice rainy evening with a hot cup of tea watchin the droplets hit the glass pane.. or else perfect for a night.. clear sky.. moonlight penetrating throw the windows and ur snuggled tight in bed 😀 and stars peeping out silently..Blisss…!!! CERTIFIED MUST LISTEN
Suno Aisha ~ Amit Trivedi – I like this one.. it’s a very cute song.. Amit’s voice melts like icecream.. Yes ye s ice-cream indeed.. Foot tapping music.. me the likes me the likes.. This ones already making rounds on TV and many have already expressed their liking for this one.. Theres one small Flute bit in the middle that really makes it cute.. This again I don’t know why  I feel is reminiscent of a song I have heard before.. Either cos the name Aisha sounds similar to Alisha in Pyar Impossible I don’t know but I do feel I have heard the tune before.. but nonetheless I love it 😀 and hence CERTIFIED MUST LISTEN
Lehrein RemixDJ Lloyd and Discreet – I love this one too.. Though it’s a remix its one of those versions that are perfect for those lonnggg drives/travel on a rainy day..  I loved the original and I love this one too J CERTIFIED MUST LISTEN
Gal Mithi Mithi ~ Tochi Raina – another remix another version.. Dint like the original not yet..not till I watch the video and give it another consideration and so as of now CERTIFIED MISSABLE..
Overall I give it a 3/5.. not very impressive but definitely not the missable types.. you definitely can listen to Behke Behke, Lehrein and Suno Aisha.. Sham is good too but not too striking initially but the more u listen to it.. the more you fall in love with it.. So that’s for AISHA a 3/5..
Once Upon A Time In Mumbaaii..
Ok I am indeed aware that I am indeed super-late for the review.. But with tooooo many things on my hands this was bound to happen 😀
But heyyy I aint complaining cos I like it when I have my hand full..
Anyways back to the review..
When you know it an Emran Hashmi movie you know for sure that the songs are gonna be good simply cos that bugger is somehow lucky with songs.. And all his movies till date have had at least one superdupersplendiferous song.. 😀
When you see names of singers like Mohit Chauhan, Raahat Fateh Ali Khan, Karthik and KK you are sure the album promises to be something 🙂  But when u see the music director name as PRITAM.. You are 😯
Cos u don’t know if the authenticity of the music can be trusted or no.. 🙄
But nonetheless the positives (emran, mohit, rahat, KK, karthik) over shadow the big villain pritam and OUATIM delivers the best  of sufiyaana music that can be cherished for quite some time..
I am sure if I am to listen the album after a couple of years I am still gonna love them… Highlights of the album would be Mohit’s Pee Loon which has already become everyone’s favorite, Raahat bhai’s Tum jo Aa gaye , KK and karthik’s I am in love 😀
There’s also a Mika song thrown in a typical bhaigiri types 😛 Baburao mast hai.. Well I must say though this might be one of the lesser priorities in this album but trust me the song is cute.. 😀
And there’s also a 70-80s style cabaret number reworked on thePiya Tu Ab Tho aaja and duniya mein logon ko” that’s a good listen too 😀
Overall a good Album- 7/9 songs are good 🙂 So definitely CERTIFIED MUST LISTEN
ATLEAST the songs by Raahat, Mohit , KK and Karthik.. If not the remix/reprise version the originals at least are more than enough to make it a definite listen
I rate it a 4/5
Can’t help it guys I have all my favorite singers there.. 😀
Pee loon ~ Mohit Chauhan – just one word to describe this song – AWESOME.. The moment the aalaap starts you are swayed completely.. All I feel like doing is close my eyes and let the song flow over me.. It’s simply THE BEST song in the album.. The Sufiyaana effect is simply mindblasting.. Mohit excels once again.. The lyrics are definitely noteworthy.. The chorus lines are catchy and tend to stay in Ur mind eons after the song is over.. CERTIFIED MUST LISTEN
Tum Jo Aaye ~ Tulsi Kumar, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan – it opens in a typical qawwali-ish lines.. Tulsi Kumar has indeed improved a lot on her singing.. She doesn’t sound too shrill like she used too.. Infact at some places I found her reminiscent to Chitra… Rahat bhai as usual excels and we have a winner song once again.. Albeit I prefer the Reprise version more cos that’s a solo 😉 Sowweee Tulsi can’t help it M a Rahat fan 😀 the lyrics are good a tad clichéd but nice.. The places where Rahat bhai does his swarams are beautiful cos he reminded me so much of Nusrat ji.. CERTIFIED LISTENABLE only cos this is not solo 😉
Babu Rao ~ Mika – If you have liked tapori songs of Munnabhai and Shootout at Lokhandwala you are sure to like this… If you don’t mind Mika then you can like the song.. Cos frankly I did like it.. I wouldn’t say I loved it but yes it’s definitely listenable.. For those moments when you just want to dance Ur blues away and feel the need to add some spunk to your usual music you surely need this one..The lyrics are typical complete with the mumbaiyya slang.. liberal use of English too like adjust” “word” “system etc etc.. CERTIFIED LISTENABLE
I Am In Love ~ KK & Dominique –  KK strikes back.. He has been one singer I have always liked since he gave us Tadap Tadapke (Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam).. And I end up liking 99% of his songs and yes definitely I like this one too.. Albeit I would say that Karthik’s version is definitely one up on this… But with KK you just can’t ignore him.. The lyrics are the same so I save it for the Karthik version 😉 as for this one CERTIFIED MUST LISTEN..
Pee Loon(Remix)Mohit – if you liked the original you are sure to like this J Yes indeed, just a bit fast paced but overall the song is simply out of the world.. There was a day when the moment I laid my hands on this album I was just hooked on to this song and kept playing it again n again.. It’s definitely addictive… Though I am generally against remix but this one doesn’t sound like one in spite of claiming that it is a remix.. So for me this one’s CERTIFIED MUST LISTEN.
I Am In Love ~ Karthik – for the first time when I heard this I dint realize it was Karthik singing albeit I did feel the voice very very familiar.. and then came this place where he sings in complete base and that’s when it hit me “is that Karthik” and yes I checked it then and I was dumbstruck this was indeed Karthik and the best part I love is that not one ounce of accent or anything for that matter… A simply marvelous song… not much of a Sufi effect but definitely a lovely song.. the lyrics are really sweet, minimalist esp the second Para which goes like – badal par chalta hoon main,girke sambhalta hoon main, khwahishe karta hoon main khone se darta hoon main, jaaga na soya hoon main , musafir khoya hoon main, kuch sarphira sa hoon main buddhu zara sa hoon main, dil kyaa karein tere bina itna bas mujhe pat ahai,.. I am in love.. Aaahhh.. I reveled in this song completely.. CERTIFIED MUST LISTEN..
Parda ~ sunidhi Chauhan, Rana Mazumdar – this is the perfect Cabaret effect from the 70s and 80s.. A rehash of RDB’s Piya Tu Ab Tho Aaja and Duniya mein Logon ko .. No it’s not the remix or anything.. It’s completely redone or rather it would be more appropriate to say that they have actually incorporated some parts of the RDB song to this one.. Perfect with the RDB effect this is definitely a good song.. I wouldn’t commit and say that its one of those dance numbers I would pick up to dance but then I definitely can’t ignore it too.. It’s an ok song.. Sunidhi has definitely sung it to the best.. But I somehow only wish if they had brought in Asha Tai to sing this that would be a Sone pe suhaaga 😀 CERTIFIED LISTENABLE
Tum Jo Aaye (reprise) ~ Raahat Fateh Ali Khan – What do I say now..?? COMPLETE BLISS..!!!! With Raahat bhai crooning, his breathtaking aalaps, swaras,..Uff by God.. I’m addicted.. 😀  Comparatively minimalist on the music front, and sigh..!! I don’t have words to describe this one.. Simply no words.. Cos its Raahat bhai I don’t need any further reasons to fall in love with this song.. Lemme concentrate on the lyrics in this one 🙂 The lyrics are simply beautiful , picture this – Ishq mazhab ishq meri zaat ban gayi.. Sapne Teri chahto ke dekhta hoon ab kayi..Din hai sona aur chandi raat ban gayi.. Mindblasting..!! The sheer use of Urdu makes me love it even more.. Aisa main saudaayi huaa dhadkane bhi apni tho lagti hai Teri ahaate maangi  Na khudaayi Maine maanga naa rawaan bhi maangli Teri chahte..Khwahhishe Milne ki tumse roz hoti hai nayi mere dil ki jeet meri maat ban gayi.. I’m ghayal completely.. CERTIFIED MUST LISTEN
I Am In Love (Dance Mix) Dominique & KK – now I wonder why they had to come out with a 3rd version of this song 🙄 no I mean seriously c’mon we already have a KK and Karthik version why another Dance version.. Sigh..!! This one’s CERTIFIED MISSABLE
Overall the album is good for those 4-5 songs and hence 4/5 cos Raahat Bhai Mohit and Karthik (exactly in that order) are more than enough to keep me mesmerized with this one 😀
So guy’s u must definitely listen to those MUST LISTENS mentioned out there.. And yes I’m definitely looking forward to this movie 😀
That’s it from Megzone for now..!!
Keep Smiling..!! Keep Rocking..!! Keep Blogging..!!!
Ithu Allavo Sugam ~ This is what’s Bliss..!!!
When I knew this was coming up I had many expectations.. when I heard the demos on Facebook.. the expectations only multiplied a gazillion times.. and were they met???
Aye aye it does.. J Awright enough beating around the bush.. This is Ranam Sugam I am talking about… 😀
Ranam Sugam is a musical novelette by Paadhai a band comprising of Siva, Suresh and Shammeer..
My thoughts on the album.. Loved it CERTIFIED MUST LISTEN.. Rating 3.75/5
Why not more you might ask esp when I loved it… cos there are 1-2 tracks that I may not wanna listen again and again.. my personal fave being Ranam kuda Sugam than aaahhh I can keep listening to it again and again… followed by Nilavum thoongalaam…, Yaar ival and Veyil Mazhai..
The only downside was too many tragic songs and most importantly the beats somehow sounded repetitive… I couldn’t see much variety in the songs, they all sounded kinda alike to me (being brutally honest..) the album seems to maintain the same mood and effect.. When I listen to an album esp not a movie one.. I would like to see some variety like love, pathos, hatred, passion everything.. c’mon 10 songs… ok one was theme so 9 songs… err… 1 was remix so 8 songs… wish the 8 songs had picked up one mood each J that would have made It perfect…. 🙂
I know tragedy sells.. I know tragedy enters the heart and plays with the heart strings leaving an effect behind.. But then let’s not keep the whole mood of the album as tragedy 😦 that takes out a certain charm away from it 🙂
But overall one swellll ALBUM… Looking forward to More of Paadhai 🙂
Now for the detailed analysis—
~~~~~~~~~

Yaar aval ~ it’s an Awesome mindblasting song.. The moment it starts I feel myself nodding my head.. Tapping my feet..Closing my eyes and lost in the song.. This is one of the best songs in the album and also one of my personal favorites.. The rap effect in the song gives me Kulir 100 degrees kinda feel to it.. Wonder if I may be wrong too.. But somehow just felt so..The music is awesome… ample usage of the violin-ish effect… CERTIFIED MUST LISTEN

En nanbane ~ nice feel this one where the female singer sounds a tad like Bombay Jayshree… When u close your eyes and try to lose yourself in the song.. you might end up feeling this is another of Gautam Menon’s movie songs with Harris Jeyraj as the music director and Bombay Jayshree as the singer J the use of Indian classical instruments does leave me with a feeling of Kannalane (Kehna hi kya) from the Mani Ratnam movie Bombay..Though this is one song that seems to come across as a potpourri of many others,  if I were someone naïve to Indian music and film music, I may fall in love with this one instantaneously.. Oh well, as a matter of fact I still love it 🙂 CERTIFIED LISTENABLE

Thedi ~ this is again one of those songs that have the Kulir effect to it.. Or maybe something is really really wrong with me.. 🙄 The addition of Rap does enhance the song but the pathos reflected in it is blatantly visible… CERTIFIED LISTENABLE

Nilavum Thoongalam ~ THIS is the BESTESTESTEST SONG in the album… I simply fell in love with it when I heard the demo.. And was feverishly looking forward to this one 🙂 I am glad to conclude that it dint disappoint me one bit…yaayy… the moment I heard this I was fully, completely, sincerely, awesomely in love with it….. The yearning heart seeks solace in someone’s arms.. No no that’s not the lyrics… that’s the effect I get when I hear the song… Awwww the mush-o-meter is on a full time high.. The song somehow gives the effect as If a light feather was caressing your soul.. This one’s a definitely must must listen…I highly recommend this one.. CERTIFIED MUST LISTEN

Veyil Mazhai ~ this is again a lovely track.. The initial aalaap-ish humming by the female singer again gives the Bombay Jayshree effect.. I love her voice.. Err.. Not BJ you sillies I love her obviously but this female singer too 😀 though she sounded like BJ in the start, as the song proceeded she sounded a tad like saindhavi.. This one’s a love song complete with words that leave you speechless and spellbound…but somehow a wee bit of pathos and yearning did seem to have crept into this song.. Or is it just me 🙄

Overall I loved the effect of this song…a perfect background music for those long evening walks by the beach, finger entwined…aaww CERTIFIED MUST LISTEN

Paathiyil vilaguvathu ~ I am not even sure if this can be classified as a song.. It has more dialogues then even lyrics.. More like rants by a group of no-good-losers or should I reword that and say Rants by a group of Loved-and-lost… baahhhh.. That don’t impress me much… too much pathos I say.. 😐

After listening to the previous songs this one’s certainly not what I expect..But I do know the actual majnu’s and devdas might actually love this.. But for me it’s definitely CERTIFIED MISSABLE

Ranam Sugam ~ oh maannn.. This is surely gonna make you guys fall in love with it.. Yes this is THE BEST SONG in the album… I have simply fallen in love with this one.. When I heard Nilavum thoongalaam I thought that was the best.. But maann.. This one over-rules that one too 🙂 this is one of those songs that is perfect for those late-night lonely long drives..If I were to picturise this song for a movie or even for the album.. The video would include a guy on his bike/car driving at full speed in a frenzy, his tempers and passions both raging an eternal fight in the mind… CERTIFIED MUST LISTEN

Vaarthai Thavarivittai ~ this is one bloody brilliant of a song.. The opening lines give a Barathiyar effect.. Maybe that’s cos of the use of the word Kannamma.. This one’s another sorrow filled track..But if the previous one was tragedy this is the King of tragedies.. 😥  The singer’s voice is sure to instill some old memories if you have one and is sure to make an impact on you… the lyrics are so beautiful that they are cherry on the cake J CERTIFIED MUST LISTEN

Ranam Sugam (Remix) ~ trusts me if the original was good the remix is no less… I somehow can’t seem to get over this song… this one has to be the best 🙂 the song starts upbeat but the anguish is clearly etched all over out… the lyrics, the singer, the song overall definitely leave a mark in your mind.. MY PERSONAL FAVE in this album… the lines ranam kuda ranam kuda sugam thaan are pacy and hence catchy and addictive… even after the song is over I end up humming those lines again and again… I had got so addicted to the song that even when I was not listening to any music – mind you any music at all I could feel this song running in my mind… I think after listening to this surely I’m gonna end up feeling pain is good 🙂 CERTIFIED MUST LISTEN

Ranangal mudivathillai ~ this is again another grief filled song.. Only music No lyrics.. And makes up for something like the theme of the album… Certain parts in the music is definitely commendable… love this one… perfect to be your ringtone… CERTIFIED LISTENABLE

~~~~~~~~~~~~
After listening to the whole album.. as I said the songs that stand out are definitely Ranam Sugam, Nilavum Thoongalaam and Yaar Ival..
Raavan…!!
Raavan
Trademark of ARR written all over it… Any movie by mani Ratnam has expectations.. with ARR as the music director the expectations are high… and like all ARR-MR combinations this one’s a run-away hit too..
But yes like all ARR albums except maybe JTYJN the music takes time to grow on you… but once it does… like all his tunes.. they stick to you like glue 😀
Album gets an overall 4/5.. why.. cos songs are less 😛
Wen its ARR we want more.. we wanntt more… 😀
Beera and Ranjha ranjha rules with behne de following 🙂
If you haven’t yet got the album… what on earth are you waiting for… Christmas…?? 🙄
CERTIFIED MUST BUY 😀
Okkkeee…. Now for the detailed review 🙂
~~
Beera Vijay Prakash, Mustafa Kutoane, Keerthi Sagathia~~Foot tapping music, a song that’s completely dedicated to the raavan, his description, nature etc.. Catchy music though in one place it reminded me of “dholi taro dholbaaje from  Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam.. But this one song is surely very very addictive..you end up humming beera beera even after the song is over 🙂 CERTIFIED MUST LISTEN
Behne de Karthik, Mohamad Irfan ~~one of the lovely melodious numbers I this album. Signature ARR style music. Sudden increase/decrease in pace and pitch… One of those perfect songs for a loong drive espeiceially on a rainy evening 🙂  CERTIFIED MUST LISTEN
Thok di khilliSukhvinder Singh, Am’nico –  the way it started reminded me of badal from yuva.. but then all said n done this song has its own charm. Sukhwinder in his typical style. Nice song.. In some places reminded me of Ye jo des hai tera from Swades.. but then loved it 🙂  CERTIFIED LISTENABLE
Ranjha Ranjha Rekha bhardwaj, Javed Ali, Anuradha Sriram – the immediate start reminded me of Mayya Mayya from Guru..slowly it gathered pace into western music.. but when the song starts you know you have a winner.. the only duet in the album.. Javed Ali at his usual self.. but Rekha bhardwaj steals the show completely…Her voice is a complete delight to hear.. CERTIFIED MUST LISTEN..
Kheli re khili rereena bhardwaj~~ it’s a romantic track busat sorry to say that don’t impress me much…Maybe I need a coupla rounds more of listening to this one.. its not bad.. but not too impressive to me atleast.. so its jus CERTIFIED LISTENABLE..
Kata kataIla Arun, Sapna Awasthi Kunal Ganjawala ~~ this is like the theme song and the most advertised in the trailer… Awesome music.. the folksy effect very apt only in some places reminded me of Lagaan in some places… but this is definitely not a bad number J not very catchy not sumthin that you can get addicted to.. but its definitely a good one.. CERTIFIED LISTENABLE
~~~~~

Overall, verdict is CERTIFIED MUST LISTEN indeed.. only I wish there was a tad more variety.. the whole album has the folklore feel to it.. I agree with a movie like Raavan wat more can you expect but haven’t ARR and MR known to create magic…??? Not that the magic is missing.. but somehow I feel there was room for more improvement.. if ARR cud have definitely given a tad more diversity in the tunes and songs 🙂

But nonetheless ARR IS ARR no one can beat him 😛

Looking forward to more music from him 😀

Badmash Company ~ NOT Bad(ly)mash(ed) indeed..!!

OK chuck the title…. I was just trying to add some zing…

and yes i knw im super duper late with the movie completely geared up to release…

Well well after hrithik how can I leave my Shahid out…. 😉

Haan… temme temme…

And now that the movie is up for release and my Shahid loooookkkks uber-sexilicious 🙂

The promos look promising.. What with Shahid and his various make-ups and gigs..

Errrmmm… ok lemme get back to the music review of the movie… this review specially dedicated to Shammeer bhai who has been continuously reminding me about it 🙂

Well Badmash Company makes up for a Timepass listen..

As the name suggests the songs only complement the title of the movie by lots of breezy funky fast paced numbers..

Special mention of Raahat Fateh Ali Khan’s rendition Fakeera – which is an awesomefreakinglicious number… chaska and ayashi as the names suggest are complete fundooo numbers.. For serious music lovers I think Fakeera would be the only treat.. The title song – Badmash Company is equally a merry number..The starting sounds reminiscent of some english song… then there is Jingle Jingle for the Mohit Chauhan Fans… yes yes the song seems to a masakali kinda number but yes def not anywhere near Masakali.. But definitely a good listen… Over all not bad at all..

CERTIFIED LISTENABLErating 3/5

Now for a detailed review:

~~~~~
Ayashi KK – if there was one funky attitude-ey song for someone who is completely bindaas and fun.. It has to by this song… the music and the lyrics simply complement each other.. Ofcourse a perfect song for the wannabes and those who want to add some oomph attitude to them… and yes I loved it completely simply cos of it foot-tapping, head nodding music and catchy lyrics… so this one’s a CERTIFIED LISTENABLE..
Fakeera Raahat Fateh Ali Khaan – the moment the song starts you know that it has something to offer to you.. Yes indeed.. And with Raahat bhai singing.. This one is THE BEST in the album.. And the lyrics almost philosophical and yes this is one of those songs that has you hooked to it the moment you listen to it.. Though the music is in tandem with the mood of the movie/other songs.. Arthaarth (meaning) a bit fast paced with ample usage of guitar.. To hear Raahat bhai is a complete treat to the ears.. Albeit the peppiness in the song.. Raahat’s crooning adds the much needed zing… Im sure anyone who listens to this is gonna be hung-ho about it for sure.. The liberal usage of aalaps and taranas makes it most-definitely-has-to-be CERTIFIED MUST LISTEN
Chaska krishna and Uri – its one fundooo song.. Completely catchy.. I mean wat else can you expect with a title like CHASKA.. It is obviously a fun dhinchaak dikchik number…..the music is yes indeed cute to listen.. The music brings in the complete fun and frolic mood to the song.. With a slight classical and use of Indian-ness base to it.. Makes it a good listen.. CERTIFIED LISTENABLE
Badmaash Companybenny dayal MG Sreekumar –  well the starting itself gives the song an eeriness equivalent to those typical mafia/gangsta kinda feel to it. The lyrics and the opening lines also add to the typical effect ala Smooth Criminal/Dhantenan types… where the music decides and creates the mood of the songs.. The lyrics interspersed with words like ae saale lafange.. Dedh-shaane.. Etc these kinda uplifts the whole Badmash effect to the song 😉 so to me this is definitely CERTIFIED LISTENABLE
Jingle Jingle Mohit Chauhan Devi Sri Prasad – this is one helluva cute number.. It will grow on u slowly.. And for the loyal Mohit Chauhan fans yes pretty much a treat… Pritam has tried to re-create a masakali/Ibn e batuta effect.. But hasn’t managed to pull it off that well.. But that does not mean that the song falls flat on its nose.. Nopes.. It still makes up to be worth listening thanks to Mohit and his twang-ish voice.. The lyrics is a complete HINGLISH.. Well most songs in this movie are HINGLISH adding a bit of rap here n there.. So this one’s a super listen too… CERTIFIED MUST LISTEN
Ayashi remixKK – if the original was fast this is faster… and yes if that was head nodding at the speed of one nod per 3seconds.. This is one nod per second… sounds funny naa.. But trust me it is indeed so..
It’s a fun number.. But somehow in comparison of the original this is slightly better.. But the one thing that has me bamboozled is why KK pronounces it as “AYASEE” instead of “AYASHI” 🙄 wonder why.. Nonetheless definitely CERTIFIED LISTENABLE
Chaska remixKrishna – like the previous remix this one also is one of those pub-ly dance numbers.. The kind of groovy songs that would have the crowds moving on the dance floor.. And for the listeners…. Only more head nodding and foot tapping both proportional to pace of the song… In some places though the singer reminds me of HIMESH Reshammiya… wonder why… 🙄 esp wen he dint sound so in the original.. Music mein gadbad kar di kyaa.. 😕 Overall a good listen.. CERTIFIED LISTENABLE..
~~~~~~

So overall the album makes up for a good listen… when you are travelling and reading a book and jus need some background music..But not the kind of songs which would make u sit and listen to the songs.. But rather those that don’t disturb your reading speed or bother you in anyway but jus provide the background noise in the form of music.. This album is IT.. Cos except for FAKEERA and maybe JINGLE JINGLE you wouldn’t notice wen the other songs pass by.. all you would be doing is nodding your head and reading.. J

So if you’re a self confessed book-o-holic plus music-o-maniac like me who can’t do away with either esp while travelling.. And if you manage to get a very interesting book which seeks complete undivided attention and u cant not listen to music but don’t want the songs to disturb you…. This is the Album for you.. You can simply play it on and nod your head to the beats and give your darling book the much needed exclusive attention it requires.. 😛
