Day 23, W = Wrapped Refrain

The Wrapped Refrain, created by Jan Turner, consists of 2 or more stanzas of 6 lines each; Meter: 8,8,8,8,12,12 and Rhyme Scheme: a,a,b,b,c,c.
Refrain rule: In each stanza the first 4 syllables (or 4 single-syllable words) in the first line must be the last 4 syllables (or 4 single-syllable words) at the end of the last line. This is what wraps each stanza with a repeated refrain …thus, the Wrapped Refrain.
Optional: The first stanza refrain and last stanza refrain can be joined (or looselyjoined) together for the title of the poem.

~::~ Broken Dreams ~::~

moonlight_lge

Staggering through, dark silent nights

Persisting ‘til fate reunites

Trundling low with my broken dreams

My heart echoes my muted screams

Biding time awaiting amorous rendezvous

Many decades I’ve transpired whilst staggering through

I’ve walked alone, through pale moonlights

Enduring fate’s unrighteous smites

Existence bursting at its seams

I trudge along till hope redeems

In wilds I loiter until Destiny atones

Through these pallid gossamer paths, I’ve walked alone

~::~ Midnight Wanderer ~::~

This time it took me 3 days to complete this poem 😥

But I’m glad that i completed it.. I started off with an abstract genre and somewhere down the line a story just creeped in! 🙄

images

Night subdued

Moonlight’s cue

The silence expelled

Like an Angel’s Spell

He lost track of time

In her voice sublime

Like the science of chemistry

He fell in love helplessly

But fate’s act of smite

On this saintly night

His destiny withheld

Until wrestling heart bled

All love lost

And loneliness accosts

With overflowing memories

Yet heart’s empty!

Like a crack in the mirror

Life changed forever

Like sinking pebbles in lake

Near existence filled his wake

And now like the breeze

He wanders among trees!

~::~ Memories Torn ~::~

~::~ Memories Torn ~::~

Lee Plaza Hotel, Detroit, Bonnie Beechler

Memories forlorn

Of years long gone

A place called home

A place to call our own

Of crumpled sheets

Kitchen counter treats

Amorous eventide teas

Romance by the trees

Of first borns and words

Midnight wails and turds

Of projects & papers

Even best achievers

Today we lay chipping

Wallpapers, dirty & ripping

Dusty, grubby and slime

Like rotted wood with time

Memoirs vulnerable

Of yesteryears colorful

Dead with the seasons

Irreparable beyond reasons

Waiting_At_The_Altar_Of_Love_by_Onceuponatime13

I looked for you in crowded faces

I looked high and low in myriad places

Wondering where I could find you

And wash away my earthly blues

I sit here waiting for the One to love

Awaiting an interlude by heavens above

Anticipating the advent of a soul mate

At the touch of whom my heart’s at pace

Oh love! I search, I search for thee

A love that makes me more me

The love that inspired me to rhyme

A love that would last for a lifetime

A verse in rhyme I write for you

A verse I dream in love-laced hues

A verse so real, of love surreal

A verse, with my feelings concealed

I pine for you and words just flow

I sit writing poems, my face aglow

I write a poem, love poems for thee

Where art thou, come set my heart free!

~::~ On The Edge ~::~

~::~ On The Edge ~::~

Image

Teetering on the edge of sanity

O’er the cliff, I stand alone

Struggling to gather foothold

Shivering to the bone

Trying my best not to fall

Down the abyss of darkness

A promise to self, stares back at me

Of never going down, now truly messed.

Restraining droplets, that trickle down

Moistening my cheeks that swell

Reining my step’s o’er moss laden stone

That can plummet me down to hell

A mist swirls around me black

Confounding my vision obscure

Oh why dear Lord, you subject me to this

Poor heart of mine so pure!

I dunno if I shall fall head first

Or if someone’ll pull me back

Who’d hear my muted frantic calls

And bring me back on tracks

‘m still there, on the edge

As eons pass by in overflow

Waiting for my miracle

While gaping at abyss below

~::~ Cobwebs In My Mind ~::~

Image

There are cobwebs in my mind

That seems to just dwell behind

Fresh thoughts brim like fountains

Whilst cobwebs daunt like mountains

No matter how hard I try,

They endure, in frustration I cry

Oh! There are cobwebs in my mind!

A million cobwebs in my mind..

A spider unknown comes up crawling

Uneasiness and doom it brings

I struggle in vain, to push them away

And yet there comes one, leading me astray

I fight a fight unbeknownst to me

Scuffling with shackles to be free

Oh! There are cobwebs in my mind!

Daunting cobwebs in my mind..

The intricate web, a puzzle formidable

With every attempt my hope gets feeble

I trudge along, untangling the threads

With every section, anxiety spreads

Wonder if I can ever clean up this mess

Or will I go crazy, under extreme duress

Oh! There are cobwebs in my mind!

Gazillion cobwebs in my mind..

~::~ Here I Lay ~::~

Image

Here I lay

Gaping at the stars

Wondering where they play

In this vast expanse

Here I lay

Wondering what to do

Should I play?

Or work harder than I should

Here I lay

In dungeons of fiery hell

Pondering in dismay

Distraught, fighting my own quell

Here I lay

In hope of a better tomorrow

Destiny led astray

Buried six feet in sorrow

Here I lay

 In shadows deep and dark

Rotting in decay

Searching for a sole faint spark

Here I lay

Incarcerated in an iron fence

In misery I flay

Questioning my very existence

~::~ Monochrome Skies ~::~

Faintly appeared mellow mars

Glowing amidst twinkling stars

Ginormous moon rising afar

Glimmering like a nightly czar

I sat there ‘neath monochrome sky

Overlooking centuries pass by

Awaiting a desire to be fulfilled

Feeble hope continues instilled

As glorious waxing moon builds

Blurry future that I have willed

Burst out in spasms of cry

Whilst the universe laughs wry

Yet again, dusk passes spry

Desires left unfulfilled & dry

My fate that has been led awry

Deprived of any reply

I sat there ‘neath monochrome sky

Overlooking centuries pass by

~::~ Unethical Appeal ~::~

~::~ Unethical Appeal ~::~

Walking down untrodden lanes

Breaking free from worldly chains

Wandering by deep-dark woods

Deciduous- casting shadowy hoods

Butterflies flutter, buds bloom

Darkness befalls, mind’s a’gloom

Wondering when- veil shall lift

I schlep along the stream adrift

Pondering thoughts clouds vision

Searching for colorful horizons

A neverland, mystical yet real

Beautiful & pure, unethical appeal

~::~ Lost September Love ~::~

~::~ Lost September Love ~::~

Twilight hour rung athwart the earth

Darkness spread, sunlight in dearth

She crept up along the wilderness

Stealthily, adorned in her black dress

Awaiting his arrival yet another night

Quickened paces, emotions tight

Sauntered pass the bereft trees

Sensing beyond what the eye sees

Beads on her brow, this warm September

A year back right here, would he remember?

Their mellow love inscribed across valley

Scented flowers, dewy grass- their ally

Ah! That sweet september love

When sparks flew o’er heathery alcove

Moments etched pure in her every pore

He left as she yearned for more

Alas! The night lost forever

Left unto faith to tether

Hours of tonight, passed in eerie silence

Nocturnal friends awaited, anxiety intense

In the wake of the moon shining bright

Sitting by the rock, she wept in quiet

Another night ends, another defeat

Amplified wait for next meet

Crestfallen she trudged, forlorn

As arose Sun, embarking new dawn

A wait so long, lasting eternity

Until togetherness sets her free
